Above Sainte-Agnès
Picture taken on 24 August 2009
"Sainte-Agnès is a commune in the Alpes-Maritimes department in southeastern France. It is the highest coastal village in Europe sitting at 750m. Fort Maginot de Sainte Agnes is now a Museum and was built as part of the Maginot Line in 1932. It sits overlooking the city of Menton and the Mediterranean. A drive to the village is well worth the trip up the (very narrow at times), road as the views of Roquebrune Cap Martin, Menton and on to Italy are breathtakingly spectacular. One of the most beautiful villages in the Alpes-Maritimes, and rather non-touristy compared to others." - wikipedia.org
