Karlstrup kalkgrav

Picture taken on 4 June 2010

Karlstrup Kalgrave is a former lime quarry. It lies to the east of Solrød Strand, not far from Køge Bay. It has been designated a site of national geological interest. It is a popular area to come hunting for fossils, and the old quarry has a plentiful supply of everything from prehistoric plants to preserved sharks. There is a car park here, a shelter and a site where you can make a bonfire. An artificial lake has been made here that has been filled with trout to form a put and take fishery.
